Largest gummy mosaic forms artwork measuring 6½ by 5½ meters

Oosterhout – April 14, 2026. Rembrandt used paint; Tanis used 81,400 gummies and has now secured a world record. This afternoon, Lena Kuhlmann of Guinness World Records officially confirmed at the Museum of Young Art (MOYA) in Oosterhout: the largest gummy mosaic in the world is a fact. The sweet artwork, measuring 6½ by 5½ meters—approximately the size of three parked cars side by side—depicts an image inspired by The Night Watch by Rembrandt van Rijn.

The Dutch Masters of Confectionery

The idea behind the record is no coincidence. Tanis develops confectionery production lines for the international market and playfully refers to itself as the Dutch Masters of Confectionery. “We wanted to show the impact we can create together with candy,” says Wouter Tanis, CCO of the company. “This record was previously held by Haribo. Now it’s ours.”

25 dedicated colleagues

One team, One goal.

A group of 25 Tanis colleagues started this morning by carefully placing the gummies on 25 separate panels. It was quite a challenge to position 81,400 candies in ten different colors from the American brand Albanese (including flavors such as cherry, strawberry, orange, and blue raspberry) correctly to recreate The Night Watch. After 6.5 hours of work, the panels were assembled into the largest gummy mosaic in the world. Unfortunately, the artwork will no longer be on display in the museum after Tuesday, as it is a requirement for the record attempt that the candies are actually eaten.
