Press release: Another playful world record attempt: largest jelly/gummy mosaic (image)

Masters in production lines for candy create a sweet “Night Watch”

Oosterhout, The Netherlands – April 2, 2026. In 2023, Tanis set the world record for “largest gummy bear candy.” On Tuesday, April 14, the family-owned company from Oosterhout will once again aim for a new world record by creating the largest jelly/gummy mosaic (image) in the world. At the Museum Of Young Art (MOYA), a gigantic artwork inspired by The Night Watch by Rembrandt van Rijn will come to life. More than 81,000 gummies, sponsored by candy manufacturer Albanese, will form a mosaic measuring an impressive 6.5 by 5.5 meters (approximately 21.3 by 18.0 feet).

“For over 30 years, our unique machines for the confectionery industry have been shipped worldwide. Through innovation, craftsmanship, and genuine enjoyment in what we do, we continue to make candy production smarter. With this record attempt, we want to not only say it; but show it,” says Wouter Tanis (CCO of Tanis). “To illustrate: our highest-capacity gummy production line could produce this entire world record in just 1 minute and 36 seconds. To emphasize our innovative spirit, we connected the mosaic artwork to one of the Dutch Masters of the Golden Age. With this world record, no one can overlook that we truly are ‘The Dutch Masters of Confectionery.’”

World record attempt

On Tuesday, April 14, Wouter Tanis and a team of 25 colleagues will begin the world record attempt. They will start by placing gummies on 25 separate panels. Once assembled, these panels will form the largest gummy mosaic in the world. An official Guinness World Records adjudicator will be present to verify the record and present the certificate.

A taste for more

A full-scale replica of the world’s largest gummy mosaic will travel to the Interpack trade fair in Germany in May, where visitors from around the globe can admire it. After the exhibition, the original mosaic will be distributed among schools and elderly care institutions so they can also enjoy the world record. To make it official, the gummies must, of course, be eaten!
